The UNCG Child Care Education Program is a part of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies within the School of Health and Human Sciences. We are nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and operate at North Carolina’s highest 5-Star Rated License level.
Our program office is located at 310 McIver Street on the UNCG Campus, on the corner of North Drive and McIver Street.
CCEP is open year-round, Monday through Friday, except for scheduled closing during university holidays and teacher workdays. We open at 7:30am and we close at 5:30pm. CCEP enrolls 85 children ages 3 months to 5 years. Our observation-based curriculum for young children reflects the needs, interests, and abilities of the children in each classroom in all domains of development- social, emotional, cognitive and physical. Our philosophy is founded on the idea that learning occurs when children are actively involved and engaged in experiences that are age appropriate, individually appropriate and culturally appropriate. As a lab school, we have a large number of university students participating in the program where they practice skills on how to apply knowledge they gain from their courses.
